Frank Juárez

On October 19th, St. Norbert College’s Baer Gallery hosted the closing reception for “Saturdays Are For Road Trips” featuring new work by Frank Juárez and Pat Ryan. The cold and rainy evening brought a small yet engaging audience to the exhibition. Although there was not a formal artist talk, both photographers were approachable for conversations about the photographs, the journey, and what’s in store for the future.

“Saturdays Are for Road Trips” is a collaborative photography project by Juárez and Ryan that began in May 2021. They have been photographing together for 15 years. This was the first time that they have collaborated on a special photography project that spanned from May 2021 to May 2023 with a mutual focus on capturing one of the most difficult times in our lives -the Pandemic. The photographs in this exhibition range from abandoned structures to harmonious repeated patterns found in objects and nature, and urban landscapes to the people who continue to move forward with their lives.

The images in this exhibition are a small collection of photographs that were selected from a pool of thousands of photos taken during this 2-year timespan.
