2024 National Art Education Association Convention, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Over 4000+ art educators from across the country will be making their way to downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the 2024 NAEA Convention, April 4 – 6, 2024. They will attend for various reasons ranging from presenting to networking, meeting vendors to buying original art from fellow art educators, reconnecting to sharing best practices, and the list goes on and on. Over 1,000 sessions focusing on a variety of topics in art education will be offered during this intense and oftentimes overwhelming convention.

Last year, I attended the 2023 NAEA Convention in San Antonio, Texas. After the convention, I wrote a blog post on what does an art education convention look like these days? Well, it is a non-stop walking, connecting, reflecting, and learning marathon sprinkled with a sense of urgency to learn from the nation’s top kindergarten to post-secondary art educators. Perhaps I can put it this way. It is like being offered $250 to spend at your local art store, but you only have 1 minute. This is an exaggeration, of course. The truth of the matter is that there is so much being offered that being selective is key to figuring out what you want to experience during this 3-day event.

Here is a list of presentations that my Connected Arts Network (CAN) fellow national teacher leaders will be participating in as well as a National Art Education Foundation (NAEF) Benefit Fundraising event. Join us!

In addition to the diverse sessions, I am looking forward to this year’s keynote speakers and artist series. In February I had the opportunity to sit down (virtually) with Karen Ann Hoffman. She is a Haudenosaunee Raised Beadwork and citizen of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin artist. Karen Ann will be presenting on April 4th at 11:30 am in Center/Auditorium Room 1/Level 1.
